The staff and leadership here at HMCC is comprised of men and women who love, care and pray for every single person in the church. If you have questions for any of our staff, feel free to reach out and email them or call our church office to speak with them.

  • Nathan Holmes

    Senior MinisteR

    Nathan was born and raised right here in Gwinnett County. He met his wife Lindsey in their home church's youth group in high school and later married in 2003. They have led ministries in Cumming and Dawsonville, GA. Most recently they have moved back to Gwinnett County and joined the staff of HMCC. Nathan and Lindsey began to grow their family starting in 2006 and have been blessed with three amazing children: Luke, Kileigh, and Abby.

    Nathan studied at Atlanta Christian College in East Point, GA. He has been in ministry since 1999 and was the Family and Teaching Associate here at HMCC since 2015 before accepting the Sr. Minister position in January 2018. His passion for ministry has led him all across the United States as well as abroad to England and Mexico. Nathan loves spending time with his family, hiking the mountain trails of North Georgia (pretty much anything outdoors), and sitting around drinking coffee talking about Theology, the church, life in general and if Adam and Eve really had belly buttons. Nathan's deepest desire is to see God move in the hearts and lives of the people here in Buford through the ministries here at Hamilton Mill Christian Church.


  • Bob Mahan

    Senior Associate of Pastoral Care

    Bob has been ministering in the Christian Churches for the past fifty-four years, with thirty-nine of those years being spent in the Metro Atlanta area - including eight years as Senior Minister at Buffington Road Christian Church in College Park, GA and thirteen years as Senior Minister of the Fayetteville Christian Church in Fayetteville, GA. 

    After completing 17 years as Senior Minister, Bob is now serving as a part-time Associate Minister. He is a graduate of the Cincinnati Christian University and is married with two grown children and eight grandchildren.  He and his wife, Sandra, currently live in Buford, GA.  He has served on various boards and committees in the Christian Church brotherhood including: President of the Georgia Christian Missionary Rally, President of the Georgia Christian Minister's Association, President of the Peach State Christian Convention and member of the Continuation Committee of the North American Christian Convention, among others.


  • Jonathan Beaver

    Children's Minister

    Jonathan was born in Texas. He is a pastor’s son and has now lived in 10 states. He and his wife, Elizabeth, met at their home church in FL in 2014. They married in 2015. They have lead a children’s ministry in Great Bend, KS and have recently moved to Gwinnett County to join the staff of HMCC. They have two wonderful cats who they love spending their free time with.

    Jonathan studied at Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, IL. He has been in ministry since 2015. His passion for ministry has lead him all over the United States. Jonathan loves spending time with his wife, hiking and being outdoors, listening to music (especially Switchfoot), talking about God, theology, the church, and life itself. Jonathan has a great desire to see God move and change the hearts and lives of everyone, children, teens, and adults alike, here in Buford through Hamilton Mill Christian Church’s ministries.


  • Josh Gilley

    Student & Young Adult Minister

    Josh is the Student and Young Adult minister here at Hamilton Mill Christian Church. Him and his wife Kalee moved here from Indianapolis, IN. They have 2 wonderful dogs who they love spending their free time with. 

    Josh is extremely passionate about seeing students experience a relationship with Jesus, and developing that relationship throughout the course of their Middle. High School, and College years.


  • Russ Cooper

    Worship Leader

    Russ was born in Barnesville, GA. and graduated from Gordon College.  He moved to Nashville, TN  as a touring and session musician. Upon returning to Georgia, Russ has served as Worship Leader/ Minister for churches in Metro Atlanta. 

    Russ joined  the staff of Hamilton Mill Christian Church in 2009 as Minister of Music and Creative Arts, leading us in song and praise during each worship service.

    Russ' interests include all things musical and baseball, spending quality time with his wife of 20 years and his three children. 

  • Charlene Taylor

    administrative assistant

    Charlene is the voice you’ll hear when you call HMCC.  She was born in East Tennessee and graduated from East Tennessee State with a degree in Business Education.  She was a high school Business Education teacher in Maryland and Georgia.  She was a charter member of Lilburn Christian Church and Hamilton Mill Christian Church.  

    After being a Stay-at-home Mom for two children she had a career in the accounting field and now serves as HMCC’s Administrative Assistant.  She handles the day to day operations of the church office along with the bookkeeping and accounting processes for the church.

  • Ray Zwemke

    Shepherd - Elder

    Ray was born and grew up in Marshalltown, Iowa where he attended Central Christian Church. He and Judy were married in 1965 and they have three children, Jamie, Rod and Ryan. After graduating from the University of Iowa with a degree in Business Administration he served two years in the US Army. Ray worked for St Paul Insurance Company in Commercial Underwriting for 30 years in various locations until he retired in December 2002. He and his family moved to the Atlanta area in 1986 and shortly thereafter they joined the Lilburn Christian Church (LCC). At LCC, Ray served as a deacon for about 10 years where he was the ministry leader for the Fellowship  team.    Ray also coordinated the insurance needs for the church in 2001.  Ray was selected to serve as an elder at LCC and he continued serving as an elder at Hamilton Mill Christian Church when HMCC was established.  He has facilitated a Small Group Bible Study in his home for several years. Ray enjoys many different sports, coaching youth basketball and mentoring middle school students.  He also enjoys helping his children with home improvement projects, but his favorite time is spent enjoying his eight grandchildren.

  • Jim Cherry

    Shepherd - Elder

    Jim was born and raised in Davidson County, Tennessee near Nashville.  He was baptized at Jackson Park Church of Christ, where he married Glennon Hampton, his wife of 54 years.  Jim served eight years in the Tennessee National Guard and was employed by AT&T.  A job move brought the Cherrys to Georgia in 1971. They have two sons, Jim, Jr. (Helen) and Steve (Tinia) and four grandchildren, Adam, Parker, Elena and Hunter.  Sadly Glennon lost her long battle with breast cancer in 2015 and went home to Jesus.  Jim has served as a Deacon in two congregations of the Lord’s Church.   He took early retirement from AT&T in 1989 and had a second career as a communications consultant.     Jim was selected to serve as an elder at HMCC in March of 2018.  He enjoys writing, PT Cruisers Group and, until recently, the HMCC Widows and Widowers Group activities and is involved in mentoring a middle school student.  He says there is hope for everyone to find happiness as he married Judy Boothe, one of our members, on July 22. 2018.

  • Steve Bryant

    Shepherd - Elder

    Steve was born in Browning, Illinois. When he was in his early teens, his family moved to Storm Lake, Iowa. He graduated from high school in 1971 and then attended the Merchant Marine Academy, Kings Point, New York. While at the academy, Steve sailed the Mediterranean, South America, Northern Europe, the Great Lakes and the Mississippi River. After the academy, he worked in Marshalltown, Iowa where he met his wife, El Jean. In 1983 the family moved to Norcross, Georgia. Steve became a member of Lilburn Christian Church in 1991. He served as a deacon for seven years and taught adult Bible school during that time. Steve and El Jean are charter members of Hamilton Mill Christian Church. He was selected to serve as an elder at HMCC in 2007. Steve is an Applications Engineer for Control Southern. Steve enjoys traveling with his family and playing golf. He and El Jean have three daughters and four grandchildren.
