Hey, wanted to let you know I will be doing a short devo (be weary of any preacher that says they'll be short with a devo ) at 2:30.  This will be a great opportunity to test your ability to join our live-stream and get comfortable before our services on Sunday at 10:30 and 12:20, and of course hear a message to encourage you and keep ya focused on Jesus.

I hope to "see" you then,
In H^m,

Hey,

I am writing to you today to let you know some GOOD news (nice change huh).  We have been very busy here in the offices trying to get everything lined up and the right pieces set in place to be able to announce all of our plans moving forward.  Here is the latest update in the weekly plans:
  • Our primary method for ministry moving forward is Facebook.  While you do not need to have a Facebook account to view any of the ministry items from us, to maximize the impact of what we are providing, you should strongly consider opening up a Facebook account.  If you need help with this, please reach out to the church office to be connected with one of our students that have volunteered to assist those needing tech help.
  • Wednesday Nights: Bob will be hosting a Bible Study on Wednesday nights from his house on Facebook Live.  Please tune in to HMCC's Facebook page to view this.  THE FIRST ONE WILL BE TONIGHT.
  • We have started a private Facebook group called HMCC Reach & Restore.  This group is intended to be a place that you can chat with one another and post any needs that you may have or know of directly (neighbor, mother, co-worker).  The idea is that we can share our needs and support one another and be that shining beacon of hope our communities need.  You should receive the notification inside Facebook to join this group.  Be sure to keep checking on everyone so that we all stay in community.
  • I will be jumping on at random times throughout the week to give little devotional thoughts and Biblical inspiration and for prayer sessions.  These will either be Facebook live or recorded videos.
  • Spiritual nourishment during this time is key, so to help with that, we have teamed up with DEVO HUB to provide devotional content straight to your mobile devices (iPhones, iPads, Android devices etc).  All you need to do is search for DEVOHUB in your app stores.  After it's downloaded, you will need to come by the church and "activate it"....you do not have to get out of the car....you can do it from the parking lot.  This is because, it's just for you and those you choose to share it with.  So, the activation is geo-tagged to our facility.  If you need assistance with this, please reach out.  There are devos for men & women, general devos for all, some for students and even some for families with young kids.
  • I want to let you know, there will be some version of Sunday morning services regardless of what happens in the future.  You will see opportunities to still experience community each and every week.  All Sunday services are moving online to Facebook. This represents a challenge but also a blessing to utilize "push-button-evangelism" - all you have to do to share what HMCC is doing is hit the share or watch party button.  If you need assistance with that, Lynda Owen and I did a video Tuesday that you should watch to learn more (see below)
  • This Sunday, we will be having two services - online only.  The first is at 10:30 and the second is at 12:20.  We encourage everyone to login at one of those times and watch WITH your HMCC Family.  Also, be active in the chats....this will be our only form of community for a season, so let's make the most of it.  Also, don't forget to like, share and start watch parties so you can actively spread the word about HMCC.  Our online experiences will be just like regular church....we want you to sing, learn, give, and even take communion TOGETHER.  We are hoping to have some communion "kits" for you to swing by the church and pick up but there are challenges in the shipping logistics right now so we will keep you posted.  If you want to venture out and grab supplies to have your own communion there in your living room, now would be a good time to do so, but only if you are able.  If not, please let me know and something can be arranged.  This Sunday, we will be taking communion in a special way TOGETHER, so please make arrangements to be a part of this.
  • At the end of each service, there is a section JUST for families with kids.  Jonathan has been working hard to still be able to minister to our families and their children.  Parents, we encourage you to have the kids in the room for worship.  They can either stay through the teaching time or play in their rooms/work on activities Jonathan has provided.  Then after the service, call them back in the room for some of the elements of our kids ministry that they love so much.  It was important for us to make sure your kids saw the same faces that they see each week.  So there is a special time with Jonathan that your kids can interact with him (parents, they may need your help).
  • Students are not left out either, There will be a special Bible study for them at 2:10 over on Forward's Instagram account (@forwardstudents). Parents, if your son or daughter does not have this social media platform, please consider allowing them to use yours so that they can still participate.  We do not want to leave anyone out, but completely respect the boundaries you have in place with regards to social media.
Guys, these are interesting times, but your church family needs your support, love and COMMUNITY more than ever.  It is our commitment here as the leadership of HMCC to continue to be a source of ministry and encouragement for you and yours.  PLEASE, reach out if you are in need.

"see ya" soon everyone. (don't forget to scroll down for how-to video)

Hey, After much prayerful consideration we are revising our response to the covid-19 crisis.  The following changes to our activities this weekend and beyond are as follows:
  • Beginning tomorrow, there will be no 9:30 am Bible study small groups
  • Tomorrow's 10:30 am worship service will go on as planned, but we are urging those that have the means to be able to watch online to do so - if you are high risk as defined by the CDC, you are STRONGLY encouraged to stay at home. You can watch the service via Facebook live.  The live-stream will begin at about 10:25 and will appear at the top of the page.  The main auditorium will be open with modified seating and elements of our service will be revised to accommodate social distancing.
  • We do encourage you to watch WITH us so we can all experience as much fellowship as possible.  You will be able to sing with us, take communion with us, and even give online as you normally would in our auditorium.  If you need assistance in getting set up to watch on-line, please reach out.
  • Services for March 22nd & March 29th will be online only.  We encourage you to grab supplies to take communion with us, but if you need those supplies, those can be delivered throughout the course of this coming week.
  • Our kids ministry will also NOT be having regular programing for the 9:30 or 10:30 hours
  • All Thrive3:5 and Forward afternoon programing will be canceled beginning tomorrow.  This includes the prospective student minister visit and the associated focus groups.
  • Our Be The One to Eat With One fellowship is on hold till further notice
  • The Kids First Responder Outreach is canceled till further notice.
  • All Mid-Week activities (Tuesday Morning Prayer Breakfast, Wednesday Night Meal and Wednesday Night Bible Study) will be canceled.
There is a website that we have put together that has all the updates and information for you to refer to in case you miss an email or post on social media platforms.  That website is: http://hmccfamily.com/covid-19-news (newest posts are at the top).

HMCC Family, these are interesting days.  It is my desire to continue to provide as "normal" as possible all the wonderful aspects that we love so much about our church, just in a different format.  Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Hey, wanted to let you know that there are a few updates regarding various events this weekend:

  1. The Men's Fellowship at Golden Corral is CANCELED.  Due to the HIGHLY public and "open" nature of the buffet line alone it was felt better to forgo this meeting.
  2. The ladies breakfast at 10:00am at La Madeleine Bakery at the mall of Ga is STILL ON.
  3. The AARP Safe driver course is STILL ON.  9:30 in room 109.  Contact Bill Angehr if you're interested in a spot....there are only a few.
  4. Sunday morning services are STILL ON.  But please refer to the previous email sent yesterday.
You can find that email here
  5. Forward and Thrive 3:5 on Sunday afternoon is STILL ON.
Of course, with all these activities and with those in the future.  Please exercise caution and use your own judgement and wisdom.  And please refer to the previous email sent yesterday for precautions and updates.

Hey, I'm sure, if you're like me, that subject line is a phrase you have heard too much of recently.  I wanted to reach out to each of you here as we enter a weekend and let you know a few things that pertain to the COVID19 virus and HMCC.  First and foremost, HMCC is a fellowship of believers (believing and trusting God and His way). Period.  That will never change.  Second, we are deeply concerned about each person's overall health and well-being and take strides to provide safe, CLEAN, and positive environments for your family.

From time to time, however, certain circumstances necessitate that we change the way we handle ourselves to accommodate and just be wise.  So, this email is to inform you of some of those necessities that you will see in place starting this Sunday.  Moving forward, there are no plans to cancel any planned ONSITE activities for the foreseeable future.  This obviously is a fluid process that the leadership and I will continue to monitor and make changes accordingly.  Those changes will be communicated promptly via email should the need arise.  Here are some things you need to know as we consider appropriate best practices for our church family:
  1. Before there was even a need for this email, our Facility Steward has been taking extra steps to to keep our facilities clean and germ-free (as much as humanly possible).  Earlier this week, in preparation for this communication with you, I spoke with our Facility Steward and we discussed additional procedures and cleaning regimens that we can implement now to further these healthy and clean efforts.  Part of that was higher levels of cleaning for high-touch surfaces.  In addition, highly used doors will be propped open as to reduce the number of surfaces that congregants need to touch to access our facilities (our security team will still secure the premises as usual).
  2. You will see an increase of hand sanitizer "stations" around the facility.  But to go a step further, let's have a little fun with this (you know me)....Starting this Sunday, every Sunday till Easter will be a B.Y.O.H.S. TO CHURCH SUNDAY!!! Never heard of that?  It's: BRING YOUR OWN HAND SANITIZER to church Sunday!! Quick, someone get the hashtag going #BYOHS.  Seriously folks, bring your best cleanliness HABITS (eh Hmm shameless plug for our sermon series) and hand sanitizer to use frequently and let's stay healthy.
  3. While number 3 is nothing new, it's good to remind parents with Kids in our kids ministry, there is a STRICTLY-enforced health and wellness policy that the HMCC Kids Minstry has put into place.  If you need a refresher on that policy, please click here (scroll to the bottom).  Starting this Sunday, all children entering the kids ministry will be given hand sanitizer and at other points during their time in the kids min.
  4. There will be new signs in our bathrooms to aid in the proper washing of hands that reduces the germs that are spread in those situations.  Please take a minute your first few trips to the restroom to familiarize yourself with these.
  5. Starting this Sunday we will utilize a modified method of taking communion and receiving the offering.  This will be explained during the announcement time and re-articulated in the future for clarity.  This will insure little to no person-to-person contact while preserving the sacredness of this act.  Additional steps will be taken in the preparation of the elements as well.
  6. In an effort to be clean and not contribute to the spreading of germs, I encourage you to refrain from handshakes and hugs and instead try the elbows and tows method you have seen in recent weeks in the news.  I know this is a departure from the warm welcome that HMCC is known for, but look at it as an opportunity to find more creative ways to express this warmth.
  7. Regarding our be-the-one-to-eat-with-one fellowships, these are still on at this moment but obviously be safe and smart about it. This is one area the leadership and I are watching closely.  The health of our HMCC family is the utmost priority, and if the need arises to delay this to suit individual health, then we will explore that option.
  8. Just be smart folks.  Be wise.  Be hopeful. Do not be fearful.  Currently, fear is spreading faster than the virus.  Wash your hands.  Cough in your elbow. Wash your hands. If you're sick, stay home. Wash your hands. Don't touch your face. WASH YOUR HANDS.  But know this, there is a varying amounts of opinion out there (might be helpful to read up on the CDC website and the definition of outbreak and pandemic for starters) and you need to do what's best for you and your family's health without judgement.  But DO NOT fear.  I am certain: God is still on His throne. God IS still Good. God IS still sovereign. God is NOT surprised by this.  YES, we should be praying about this....and pray hard.  And lastly, I implore you: show some kindness out there, amid the panic your surety in Christ can lead to a calm resolve that helps others and thus shows the precious love of Jesus.
  9. Lastly, should you choose to stay at home, just know you can still participate with us online (and we do encourage you to participate WITH us....as in, at 10:30...not the recorded version).  You can watch our services online via Facebook Live (just tune in about 10:25am), you can sing with us online, you can learn with us online (there will even be something special for just you folks online), you can give online (by clicking here) and you can even take communion with us online.  You can use your own bread and grape juice, but if you would like for a few "portable" communion kits be delivered to your house (after 3/15), please reach out to the church office and that can be arranged (but be patient as we are not as proficient as FedEx).  If your small group is able to utilize technology to meet together (like google hangouts ) I would encourage you to do so.
HMCC Family, I love you and I am praying for you, your families, your extended families around the globe, our economy as a result of this virus, and all those affected by this in our community.  I invite you to join me in that effort.
