Soaring Above Dead Faith

November 3: SOARING ABOVE THE UNTAMED TONGUE Part I
James 3:1-18 gives one of the best teachings on the tongue anywhere in Scripture. James says that we can tame every kind of animal but no one in their own power can tame their tongue. We praise God, then we curse those made in God’s image. James says this is hypocritical and contrary to real faith. So, part I will identify the hypocrisy of this sin with some encouraging words to make changes.
November 10: SOARING ABOVE THE UNTAMED TONGUE Part II
In James 3:13-18 James shows how to tame the tongue. There are two kinds of wisdom, one from above and the other from below. Incorporating the wisdom from above is the answer to producing words that honor God and SOARING ABOVE THE UNTAMED TONGUE!
November 17: SOARING ABOVE QUARRELING & CONFLICT
James 4:1-10 speaks to the issue of quarreling and conflict. James identifies the causes and lays out the solution toward harmony and joy with God and with his people. The apostle Paul commands Timothy to avoid quarrels and even believers who claim to follow Christ, but have an argumentative spirit (I Timothy 6:3-5; II Timothy 2:14, 23, 24).
November 24: SOARING OVER THE FEAR OF THE FUTURE
James 4:13-17 gives us a wonderful Thanksgiving message, to be grateful and to trust God with our future. James states the opposite of thankfulness is “arrogant schemes.” What does James mean by this? How do I overcome my fear of the future? These fears may include our country’s morality, war, sickness, loss and more. God gives us our Thanksgiving answer!
